Kawakawa (Macropiper excelsum) Leaf Extract – Kawakawa leaves were traditionally used topically for numerous conditions including, bruises, rheumatism, dry – irritated skin and minor cuts and infections. Kawakawa leaves contain volatile oil and two key components of this, Myristicin and Elemicin have been shown to exhibit anti-inflammatory properties.
Green Oat Extract – Oats have been used topically for centuries, they contain powerful compounds called Avenanthramides which have been shown to reduce itching and redness in skin as well as assisting with collagen synthesis and helping to plump the skin.
Calendula Flower Extract – Well regarded in herbal medicine as a healer and cleanser, Calendula is said to be useful for many topical applications such as minor wounds and irritated skin. Calendula flowers are also rich in many skin loving antioxidants such as lutein, zeaxanthin and beta-carotene – which also give the petals their lovely colour.
Chamomile Flower Extract – Chamomile is a gentle, calming and soothing herb – it is popular as a tea for this very reason. Similarly, when used topically it is said to have a calming and soothing effect which may be useful for dry, damages and irritated skin.
Vitamin E – Natural D Alpha Tocopherol – Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin found in many different plant oils and throughout the body where it acts as an antioxidant to prevent the oxidation of lipids.
Witch Hazel Extract – Alcohol Free – Witch Hazel is tree native to North America, it twigs and bark are distilled to produce an astringent liquid which is also referred to as Witch Hazel. Witch Hazel has a long history of use for medicinal applications dating back to the Native Americans and after centuries of popular use, it is still used today in many leading personal care products.Witch Hazel’s renowned astringent properties lend themselves to a variety of cosmetic and therapeutic applications. It can be used on all skin types including sensitive, dry or oily and is commonly found in cleansers, toners and product for blemish or acne -prone skin.
