Permanent Cosmetics Aftercare Advice
Your specific aftercare instructions will depend on the treatment you have had. We will give you a plan for your aftercare, but here are some general points to learn in advance:
- It’s really important that you keep the treated area out of the sun immediately after treatment. This means staying indoors or in the shade, wearing a hat and sunglasses. Sunscreen should only be used once the area has completely healed.
- Keep the treated area clean and dry.
- Avoid the use of non-recommended creams and soaps and be sure to only use them once we have said it’s okay too.
- Avoid touching the area, and if you must, be sure to use only cleanly washed hands to avoid infection.
- Sleep on your back and not the treated area for the first 5-10 days.
- Don’t be tempted to remove any scabs or itch the treated area as this can cause scarring.
- Avoid strenuous exercise for the first few days after the procedure.
- Do not have any facials for at least six weeks.
- Keep your follow up appointments with us and if you have any concerns, contact us immediately.
- Contact your doctor if any symptoms of infection occur.
Healing After Permanent Cosmetics
The time it takes for your skin to heal is dependent on many different things. Your age, skin type, health, hormonal cycle, aftercare, medication, type of procedure and many other things all play a role. Results cannot be foreseen, predicted or guaranteed, and it’s vital that you understand that it’s not the result of the technique or the technician.
In the first few days, itching, flaking and scabs may occur. You can also find the pigment fades in the first week, but then reappears gradually over time.
